Frida Kahlo is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Known for her controversial Mexican folk art and numerous self portaits, Kahlo not only knew how
to make her art uniquely personal, she chose to fashion her wardrobe around traditional Mexican garments and chunky jewelry at a time when the world was focused on glam, glizty jewelry and Hollywood fashion. I am a huge fan of Friday Kahlo and recently found an online store near Austin that specializes in recreating the types of clothing Kahlo wore–with plenty of Dia del Muerto (Day of the Dead) influence. Here’s one of the tops they currently have for sale–and they have lots of other types of tops, skirt sets, and jewelry with Kahlo’s likeness included. Visit the web site at: www.fridafashions.com.
