Salvage Inspiration Keeps it “Green”

Now here’s an online boutique that was “born out of a love for all things vintage, and a disgust for the disposable society we live in” — Salvage Life. Finding inspiration in all things vintage and retro, SalvageLife not only has fantastic vintage finds, they are also helping promote green living by discouraging wastefulness and promoting sustainable buying practices. It all sounds great…and it is! This shop is cute and below are some of my fav things they offer.

A totally girly “Sweet Army” trench coat ($58).

“Weighing the Odds” chunky gold vintage necklace ($12).

Super cute “black and white” organic print vintage tote ($32).

Handcrafted with a Vintage Vibe

Handmade with a hippie chick vibe, Dottie Angel has the greatest handmade felted cuff and crochet bracelets, purses, slip skirts and brooches that are simply adorable! I’m particularly in love with her vintage slips that have been re-architected using vintage laces (from her grandmother’s stash) priced  at around $38; and linen purses that are quite possibly the perfect accessory for Spring (priced around $55-$75). SOOOOO cute!

Naughty Secretary’s Rule

If you’re totally into the chunky funky plastic jewelry reminiscent of the 80s, then catch up with what the Naughty Secretary Club has to offer. Taking some of the most random plastic pieces, the NSC has revamped vintage treasures and turned them into modern day classics.

They have a huge assortment of random charm bracelets and funky rings and big ol’ earrings that scream New Wave Goddess shoulda been. You can also tap into some really rad neckalces, brooches and accessories and purses made of some stunning fabrics–one of my favorites is the Juan Valdez  Messenger Bag (shown at right).  Another favorite is the “Red Hot” jingly charm bracelet covered in pop art like charms.

Victorian Hippie Glam — Deep in the Heart of Texas

ppNestled  in rural Central Texas, in a little town called Bandera, Robin “Pearl” Brown has created Magnolia Pearl– a chic Victorian inspired Hippie boutique that crafts one of a kind “beautiful wear” from vintage and new textiles.Magnolia Pearl Purse

Being  Magnolia beautiful, can set you back  in excess of $500, but you won’t find these kinds of creations anywhere else–so it’s money well spent to be a fashionista that stands out in a crowd.

I have to admit that I took the plunge and bought one a while back, and I really covet that purse. Every time I carry it, I get tons of comments. These bags are phenomenal, made with gorgeous velvets, tapestries, and trims and most are accented with Victorian or vintage jewels.

Magnolia Pearl has branched out to add clothing–from bloomers and day jackets that echo the ornate purses Pearl is known for. However, these are limited to boutiques that carry the line. The only place I’ve seen her clothing line is in The Haberdashery (Fredericksburg, TX).

Personally, I’m saving up for a backpack–the mortgage company will just have to understand!
